DIY: The Anti-Aging Power Cube

by Beverly Hills MD

February 04 2016

Winter weather gets a bad rap.

People like to blame the cold for making their skin feel extra dry—and look extra dull— this time of year.

But the cold isn’t actually the problem.

Yes, indoor heat causes dehydration and freezing winds can make skin look chapped and red…

But cooler temperatures actually have some pretty amazing beauty benefits—and they can even make you look years younger.

After all, Inuit tribes certainly don’t have easy access to Botox…

Yet women in icy, arctic climates can live to be 90 without developing more than a few small wrinkles!

The arctic climate helps Inuit women stay wrinkle-free into their 90’s!

That’s because year-round winter weather leaves their skin looking frozen in time. Think of it this way…when you want to preserve food, you put it in the freezer, right?

Well, you can use a similar approach to preserving your skin.

Of course, I’m not telling you to stick your face in the freezer (definitely don’t do that!). And there’s no need to pack up and head for the North Pole…

Because the anti-aging benefits of cold weather can be achieved by simply adding regular ice treatments to your routine!

Icing is one of the easiest DIY anti-aging tricks around—but it’s also one of the most powerful.

Ice Cubes: A quick tutorial…

“Icing” your skin is one of the best and most effective DIY anti-aging tricks.

To Tighten Pores:

Wrap an ice cube in a clean handkerchief after a long, steamy shower…

Once the ice cube starts melting into the fabric, slowly run it along your face and neck.

As the ice cube gets smaller, so will your pores—so for best results, don’t stop until the ice cube disappears completely.

The process takes 3 minutes at most, but will leave you with a tighter-looking complexion all day long!

For a Flawless Finish:

Quickly rub your forehead, cheeks, and chin with an ice cube before applying foundation.

This will keep your foundation from setting into the fine lines on your face—giving your skin a smoother, more even appearance.

For Deep Wrinkle Control:

If you woke up with creases caused by pressing your face a little too hard against the pillow in your sleep…just ice them out!

Hold an ice cube down on each wrinkle for about 30-60 seconds—it won’t remove them forever, but will help to relax the most recent pressure-related damage, reduce redness, and temporarily tighten the look deep lines.

For Youthful Eyes:

Fill an ice tray with whole milk instead of water before going to bed…And when you wake up, you’ll have an amazing ready-to-use morning treatment.

Frozen milk cubes have dual anti-aging benefits for beautifying the skin around your eyes:

Their frosty feel tightens the appearance of crow’s feet and temporarily shrinks under-eye bags…

While the soothing effects of milk reduce redness and puffiness.

Gently massage the skin around and under your eyes with a “milk cube” for about 30 seconds, and you’ll instantly look rested, refreshed, and revitalized.

To Make Anti-Aging Power Cubes:

Add moisture and fight redness
by freezing these ingredients

Regular ice cubes definitely do the trick…but if you freeze a special anti-aging blend in your tray, you’ll be able get even more out of every icy treatment.

Here’s a great recipe for potent, beauty-boosting ice cubes, that you have to try:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cucumber (pureed in a blender)
  • Splash of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbs honey

What to do:

    1. Combine the ingredients in a mixing bowl and blend thoroughly with a spoon until the mixture is even.
    2. Pour the contents into an ice tray and freeze.

Run one of these power cubes all over your face and neck whenever you want to get all the benefits of an ice treatment…and a big boost of healthy, youthful, radiance.

Plus, the lemon juice helps to tighten pores even more than ice water alone, while honey soothes redness, and cucumber adds moisture to make skin look and feel more elastic.

You can even let the icy sludge sit on your face for a few minutes before rinsing – it makes a great cooling mask! Just remember to rinse your face thoroughly afterward, because honey residue can leave your face feeling sticky.

This concoction takes a little longer to make than plain old ice cubes – but the results are worth it.

Why You Should Consider Rubbing an Ice Cube on Your Face Every Day

Whether you add ingredients or just use the “basic model,” an ice cube can do a lot for your complexion. Rubbing an ice cube on your face every day can also reduce the pain and swelling of inflammation, and could even help reduce the appearance of pimples. M

assaging your face with an ice cube will also help to give your skin a more youthful look, since it will stimulate blood circulation. Ice cubes can tighten the skin, helping to prevent wrinkles from occurring.

Ice cubes are also a great way to relieve sunburn discomfort. As mentioned earlier, cucumber juice can help provide elasticity to the skin. But when you freeze this juice, it will feel amazing if you’ve spent too much time in the sun.

A simple ice cube can work as a free facial, keeping your skin moisturized.

It can also help reduce the secretion of oil that can give your skin a not-so-fresh feeling. Whether you use the recipe mentioned above or experiment with different ingredients, you might just be surprised how effective rubbing an ice cube on your face every day can be for your complexion.

Getting Frosty

Many of my clients here in Beverly Hills already swear by these frosty anti-aging tips, and I know you soon will too.

The best part is, you can use them all year long to harness the skin-preserving power of winter weather…even in the middle of July!
